Link building
Link building in Morocco: links earned, not bought
Link building is the work of getting other websites to link to yours. Backlinks are still one of the main signals Google uses to judge which pages deserve to rank, and in Morocco a few good links often make the difference between page two and page one. We earn them from sites your customers already read: Moroccan media, directories, partners, suppliers and sector sites, by giving them something worth citing.

Why links still decide so much
Google finds pages by following links, and it reads a link from a trusted site as a vote for the page it points to. Two pages with equally good content will usually be separated by the sites that link to them.
The gap in Morocco is easy to measure. When we looked in October 2026, the established agencies holding the first page for "agence SEO Maroc" had between 245 and 3,600 different websites linking to them. A new site with a dozen links can rank for a precise local search, but not for a contested national one until that gap narrows.
Not every link counts the same. One link from a Moroccan business newspaper or a sector association does more than a hundred from unrelated foreign blogs, and links from obvious link farms can do harm.
Where good links come from in Morocco
- Moroccan mediaBusiness and regional press, sector magazines, interviews and data they can quote.
- Directories that matterBusiness directories and listings people actually use, with your details exactly as on your site.
- Associations and federationsMember lists of professional bodies, chambers and clusters in your sector.
- Suppliers and partnersThe brands you distribute, the firms you work with, the platforms you sell on.
- Schools and universitiesInternships, talks, events and partnerships, often linked from their sites.
- Events and sponsorshipsLocal events, trade fairs and causes you already support.
- Guides others citeA useful guide or a small piece of original data that other sites link to on their own.
- Unlinked mentionsPlaces that already name your business without a link. Often the easiest win.
Starting links, then campaigns sized to your goals
Every SEO engagement includes a first round of links for the initial boost: your profiles completed on the directories that count, partners and suppliers who can link to you, and the pages that already mention your business without a link. These are the links a new or neglected site needs before anything else.
A larger campaign, with Moroccan media, sector sites and guides made for others to cite, is quoted separately, according to your budget and what your searches need. The gap we measure at the start, between your links and those of the sites ranking above you, shows whether it is worth it.
What we refuse to do
Buying links to manipulate rankings breaks Google's link spam policy. Sites caught doing it lose the benefit, and sometimes more. Paid placements are fine for visibility as long as the link is marked as sponsored.
- Private blog networks and link farms
- Link packs sold by the hundred
- Comment and forum spam
- Large-scale link exchanges
- Hidden links in themes or footers
- Unmarked paid articles
How a link building campaign runs
- 01
Measure
Your current links against the sites ranking above you, so the target is a number, not a feeling.
- 02
Find
A list of sites that could link to you, each checked for relevance and real traffic.
- 03
Give a reason
A guide, local data, an expert quote or a page they would want to point their readers to.
- 04
Ask and log
Personal pitches, follow-ups, and every link recorded with its date, anchor and source.
How we measure a link building campaign
We report every link we obtain: the site, the page it sits on, the page it points to and the anchor text. Each month we also follow the number of referring domains in Search Console's links report, and the positions and organic traffic of the pages that received links.
Links take time to count. We judge a campaign over three to six months, on the pages it was meant to lift, not on the raw number of links.
Frequently asked questions
What is link building?
Getting other websites to link to yours. In French it is usually called netlinking. Links help Google discover your pages and judge how much trust to give them.
How many links do I need?
Enough to close the gap with the sites ranking above you, which varies by search. Look at how many different sites link to the top three results for your target search. That number, not a fixed package, is the goal.
Are bought links dangerous?
Paid links meant to pass ranking value break Google's spam policies. Google often ignores them, and repeated or large-scale buying can lead to a manual action. Paid placements are fine when the link carries a sponsored tag.
What is the best link building platform?
Platforms that sell sponsored articles exist, mostly for French-language sites. They can bring visibility, but the links should be marked as sponsored. The links that move rankings for a Moroccan business usually come from relationships, not catalogues.
How long until links have an effect?
Weeks to months after Google finds them. A link from a site that is crawled often counts sooner. Link building is the slowest part of SEO, which is why it starts early and runs steadily.
Is link building included in your SEO work?
A first round is: directories, partners and existing mentions, for the initial boost. A larger campaign with media and sector sites is quoted separately, according to your budget and needs.
Do you contact sites in my name?
Either way. Pitches sent from your own address often get better replies for partnerships and local press. For other outreach we write as SEO Morocco on your behalf.
